VOLUNTEER OPERATED

The worlds largest hand turned wooden bowl & pen are on display in the museum.

The Proserpine Historical Museum Society Inc. is managed and maintained entirely by volunteers, it is self funding and receives no government support other than special purpose grants and community assistance.

To this end the Museum Management Committee concentrates on competing for grant money for different projects the museum requires. For instance, keeping up to date with technology such as computers and digital equipment is a priority if the museums historic collections are to survive the ravages of time.

One recently won submission was to fund the electronic equipment required to enable the museum to digitise its entire document and photographic collection, a huge undertaking. Once this has been completed, the collection will be available to the public for viewing.
