This Pioneer Cottage was reassembled brick by brick inside the museum

Visitors to the Proserpine Museum are always impressed by what they see, sometimes spending the best part of the day looking at the displays and viewing some of our selection of videos. It is not unusual for visitors to arrive in the morning and suddenly find its lunchtime. They then ask if they can leave to have lunch and return, we are always happy for them to do so as one entry fee means you can stay all day.

On the other hand , if you are in a hurry the museum is so well laid out you can have a very enjoyable experience in only 30 to 45 minutes.

If you are interested in the story of sugar cane we have a 25 minute video that takes you from the planting of the cane to the finished product. We also have displays that cover the early days of hand cutting through to the evolution of the cane harvesters.

We also feature videos on crocodiles, dingoes & the rare Proserpine Rock Wallaby.

The Sidney Cotton Documentary, The Last Plane Out Of Berlin is probably our most popular programme. This DVD is currently available at $35 and the book at $28. There is no extra charge for viewing as many videos as you like.

Our enthusiastic team of volunteers are always happy to see visitors and do everything they can to ensure every visitor gets the most out of their visit, and not only to the museum. Being locals our staff can advise you on many local attractions using the knowledge only long time residents can acquire.

Next time you are in the Whitsundays please take time out to visit our museum we are sure you will enjoy it.
